In February 2014 the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) released its 2013 market statistics, which note a cumulative global wind energy capacity of over 318,000 MW. This represents almost a 200,000 MW increase in the last five years. Although 2013 was a difficult year for the industry, with “only” 12.5% cumulative global wind energy capacity growth, the prospects for 2014 and beyond look much brighter.
